Puzzle #47: What is White's Best Move?

Hope everyone has a good New Year!

Trying to vary the puzzles a bit, this one is not a Tinue puzzle, but a test of your board evaluation skills. What should White do in this scenario and why?

Enjoy!

P.S. Even if you do not answer the puzzle, let me know if you like this kind of puzzle or want me to try something different.

P.P.S u/gruppler on r/Tak has just updated/upgraded ptn.ninja. I hope to take advantage of it with next week's puzzle. Go check it out and let him know what you think!

Puzzle #46: Black to Play; Black to Annihilate

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

My gift to you is a puzzle where you get to absolutely crush your opponent. The goal is not only to secure Tinue, but to leave White with no flats showing when you reach said Tinue.

Enjoy!

Puzzle #45: White to Play; White to Tinue

Evening all!

NohatCoder wanted a puzzle with a single solution, and I think this fits the bill. If you would like to increase the difficulty of the puzzle, try doing it without the interactive frame, treating it more like a game situation where all the future moves and countermoves are done in your mind's eye.

Happy Takking!

P.S. If you have a suggestion, like Nohat did, just drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.

Puzzle #44: Spot the Tinue

Good evening Takkers!

Over the next few weeks I plan on changing things up a bit with the puzzles for some variety. I would like to post some more "What would you do in this scenario?" and "Tinue avoidance" ones.

Also, I was talking with Sultanpepper about the puzzles and how the difficulty could be increased/decreased. He suggested posting a game where a Tinue was missed and having you find it. This increases the difficulty and brings the puzzle closer to a game situation. Oftentimes, the fact that you are made aware of the Tinue possibility and the turn that it starts makes the puzzle too easy to figure out.

Let me know what you think about these changes so I know what to post in the future.

And, if anyone has a game that they would like a puzzle made from, feel free to send it my way and I can make a puzzle from it. Or, if you would prefer, I can help you to make and post it.

Happy Takking!

Puzzle #43: White to Play; White to Tinue

Happy Saturday, everyone!

This week's puzzle shows why it is very dangerous to let your opponent control the majority of an edge. Black made a mistake by allowing White to spread the a3 stack North without contest. An additional mistake was made by placing a1 instead of Sa1 after this stack spread.

Black's a1 leaves us with this Tinue puzzle:

Enjoy!
